Baggase and Energy Cane

(a) As part of a mill-upgrading program, FSC would be putting up energy conservation measures, which would result in savings for baggase consumption that would be used as fuel to produce electricity. The baggase would then be sufficient for cogeneration during crushing as well as part of the off –season.

(b) Development of energy cane requires further studies and research and as such a longer timeframe would be required to get energy cane on the ground for biomass. The Sugar Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture would be responsible for this.
